Pumpkin Poriyal / மஞ்சள் பூசணிப் பொரியல் / பரங்கிக்காய் பொரியல்

yellow pumpkin cut into small pieces  - 2 cups
onion - 1
oil - 2- 3 tsp
mustard seeds & urad dal - half tsp
broken dried red chilli - 1
grated coconut - 2 tbsp
chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
asafoetida - a big pinch 
curry leaves - few
salt - to taste.

Steps to follow:
Wash  pumpkin, peel, remove seeds and cut into small pieces, rinse, drain  and keep aside.
 In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds,when it pops add urad dal and dry red chilli saute well,add curry leaves and asafoetida,saute again and add onion slices.Stir well.
Then add pupkin pieces and salt to taste / Close with lid and cook for 5-10 minutes in a medium slow flame.
Add chilli powder and mix well and add grated coconut, stir well.Switch off the stove.

Delicious Pumpkin poriyal is ready to serve. Enjoy with rice or chappathi.

looks too good.. i add ground green chilli paste.. give much more flavor and reduces the sweetness of the vegetable..
