This is my special tomato rasam I use to make always. Try and enjoy in this beautiful winter season.
tomato big - 5
water - 750 ml
whole pepper - 2 tsp
cumin seed - 1 and half tsp
garlic flakes with skin - 10
oil - 4 tsp
mustard & urad dal - each 1 tsp
dry red chillies - 3
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
salt - to taste
curry leaves & chopped coriander leaves - few.
Serves - 4 - 6
Steps to follow:
Coarsely blend the pepper,cumin seed and garlic flakes and keep aside.
Finely chop the tomatoes and mash well with hands and add water & salt to taste.Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard, urad dal,dry chillies,curry leaves when it pops add coarsely ground pepper,cumin & garlic flakes paste and stir well. Then add turmeric and asafoetida. Saute well.
Add mashed tomato solution, let it boil in a medium flame. If need any water& salt add adjust to your taste.
When it starts to boil add chopped coriander leaves and switch off.
