Bitter Gourd Stir fry / பாகற்காய் பொரியல்

bitter gourd - 100 gm
onion - 100 gm
oil - 1 tbsp
mustard & urad dal - each 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder - big pinch
curry leaves - few
salt - to taste
to coarsely grind
grated coconut - 2 -3 tbsp
dried red chilli - 1
cumin - half tsp

Serves - 2

Steps to follow:
Wash and cut the bitter gourd and onions.Mix bitter gourd with little salt and leave it for few minutes. Then squeeze the water and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard,  urad dal & curry leaves, when it splutters add sliced onion and saute well.
 Then add the sliced bitter gourd and saute again.
 Add salt to taste and pinch of turmeric.
 Saute and sprinkle little water and let it cook  few minutes.

 Add the coarsely ground coconut.
 Mix well.
Sprinkle little water and close with lid for a minute in a low flame.
 Open and stir well and serve.
Serve hot with rice or rotis.

I never try any bitter gourd recipes,bcz i dont like it bitterness.I think adding of cocunut will reduce the bitterness.Love to try it.
