Coconut Milk Upma


Coconut milk is used here  to enrich and flavour the dish.It is mild and tasty and makes a wonderful quick tiffin.

Ingredients:
 rava / sooji - 1 cup
chopped onion - medium size -1
chopped tomato - medium size - 1
slitted green chilli - 2-3
ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
garam masala - 1/4 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
chilli powder - 1/4 tsp (optional)
oil - 2 tbsp
ghee -1+ 1 tsp
mustard & urad dal -  1 tsp
channa dal - 1 tsp
curry leaves and  coriander leaves - few
coconut milk - 1 cup + Water 1  and  1/2 cup
salt - to taste.

Steps to follow:
Roast the rava in a medium flame with 1 tsp ghee until the roasted aroma comes.Keep aside.


 Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel add mustard when it splutters add  channa dal & urad dal,fry for a  minute add curry leaves.Then add chopped onion,stir for a minute,add gg paste, stir again for a minute,then add garam masala,turmeric powder and then chopped tomatoes,grren chillies and salt to taste.Mix and let it cook until soft.
Now add coconut milk and water. Check the salt.
 Let it come to a  boil. Add chopped coriander and roasted rava slowly and mix thoroughly.
 Stir and keep this on low flame until done.Switch off the stove.
 Finally add 1 tsp ghee mix and cover for few minutes and serve hot.
Delicious Coconut milk upma is ready to serve. Serve this with any chutney or pickle..This upma is our  favourite tiffin. Enjoy !

That's a novel idea Asiya, coconut milk to Upma...I can imagine how creamy the texture will be!!
