Channa Dal Halwa / Burfi - SNC -6

This month in Divya's  South Vs North Challenge, Challenge for southern team is  Kirthi's Channa Dal Halwa and Challenge  for northern team is Swasthi's  Hyderabad Veg Dum Briyani.

Channa Dal Halwa / Burfi :

Ingredients:
splitted channa dal (kadalai paruppu)- half cup
ghee - half cup
sugar - 1/4  cup
whole milk -1 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
salt - pinch
almonds, pistachios - few chopped

 Steps to follow:
Soak channa dal for 3-4 hours.
 Pressure cook with one cup water.
After pressure released, remove excess water if any. Mash the cooked dal to paste.
 Heat ghee in a heavy based pan,stir and  cook the mashed dal for 10 minutes until raw smell goes.
 Add half of the milk and stir on high flame.


 Repeat it until all milk is used.
 Mix cardamom powder and sugar.
 Stir well.
 Add chopped almonds and pistachios.
 Fry on medium heat  until ghee oozes.

 Transfer the halwa to a plate or bowl. Serve warm or Let it cool.
 Garnish with some nuts.Cut in desired shape and serve.
