Misal Pav - SNC - 3

First month's challenge was posed by Shruti, Second month's challenge by Pallavi  and this third month challenge of northern team  hosted by Meena of Random ramblings.

 This month challenge is Misal Pav - a common street food in Mumbai .For more details check here.

Dried white peas or green peas - 200gm
Mix farsan  as needed
Pav buns as needed.

oil - 3 tbsp
cumin seeds -half tsp
chilli powder - half tsp
garam masala - half tsp
turmeric powder - half tsp
coriander powder - half tsp
dry mango powder - half tsp
salt - to taste
water  as  needed

For Paste:
sliced onion -4
sliced tomato - 2
chopped ginger - qurater inch piece
chopped  garlic cloves - 4
chopped green chillies - 2
grated coconut - quarter cup

 Steps to follow:
Wash and soak the dried peas over night. Drain water and add new water, pressure cook for 1-2 whistes.

 Get ready with all the ingredients.
Mix Farsan..
 Heat 2 tbsp oil,  add half chopped onion and keep rest for garnishing. saute for 2 minutes,add chopped ginger,garlic,green chilli and again saute for a minute and add chopped tomatoes,saute again for a minute.
 Reduce the heat and add grated coconut ,stir well and transfer to a plate and let it cool. Paste this and keep aside.

In the same pan heat remaining oil add cumin seeds once it splutters add rest of the masalas saute for few seconds.Mix well.

 Then add the paste we made earlier and mix well. add little water to get right consistency, let it boil for 2 minutes.Add salt as per taste.

 Then add the boiled  peas.Mix well and let it boil for few minutes till looks like gravy type.
Now the peas gravy is ready.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

For additional taste cut and toast the pav bun with little ghee.

In a bowl put peas gravy, top it with mixed farsan, add remaining  chopped onion and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with Pav Bun. Delicious Misal Pav is ready.
