Grilled Tandoori chicken

Most popular Indian/ Pakistani chicken dish which is cooked in clay oven called tandoor ,this is extremely popular in restaurant menus. Although authentic tandoori flavour is very difficult to achieve in ovens anyhow this still makes a very tasty dish.

chicken pieces - 600 gm
fresh yogurt - 2 tbsp
ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
garam masala - 1/2 tsp
chilli powder - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
coriander powder - 1 tsp
lemon juice - 1 tbsp
red food colour - pinch
oil - 1 tbsp
salt - 1 tsp( to taste).

(Serves - 4)

Rinse well and drain the chicken pieces. Mix together the yogurt,ginger garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric,chilli,coriander powders,lemon juice,red colour and oil, mix well so that all the ingredients are well combined.Then add the chicken pieces to the spice mixture and leave to marinate for 3-4 hours.

Pre heat the gas oven to 250 degree.Transfer the chicken pieces to the grill plate or tray.Grill the chicken in the oven for 30 minutes until the chicken evenly browned on top.Remove from oven, transfer to serving dish.

Garnish with salads and serve with rice or naan.
