Fish Fry Masala Paste & Fish Fry / Meen Varuthathu

This masala paste is wet blend of spices with oil and vinegar which help to preserve the spices.It is quick and convenient way of adding a mixture of spices..
To make required masala paste :
chilli powder -2 tsp
pepper powder - half tsp
cumin powder - half tsp
turmeric powder - half tsp
mustard - 1/4 tsp
ginger - small piece
garlic cloves - 6
shallots - 6
lime juice or vinegar - 1 -2  tbsp
oil - 1tbsp
rice flour - 2 tsp
salt - to taste.

Grind the masala to a fine paste. Add little water if required. Store the left over masala in freezer  or fridge and reuse it.Best before 1 month.

Now the recipe follows:
Fish Fry:

black pompret fish - 500- 750gm.
or sardines
coconut oil or sunflower oil- to fry

Steps to follow:
Clean, cut and wash the fish pieces thoroughly and drain the water, keep aside.

Apply the masala paste to fish pieces and marinate for an hour.

Heat oil in a shallow fry pan and fry the fish pieces both sides reddish brown.

Now Tasty Meen Varuthathu is ready to serve.

You can use this masala to fry prawns and sardines also.

Serve hot with rice.

Good one. I always used ready powders for fish fry.Grinding them fresh is an interesting way to try it next time
